09 Jan 2010 - Timeline now includes 1994.
03 Jan 2010 - Due to some confusion regarding the field
'Chip Manufacturer', I've changed the
field
name to 'Chip Developer'. Even though the term manufacturer is used frequently
most companies did not literally manufacture the chips themselves. Good example
of this is PowerVR/NEC/STMicro/Videologic, which all have had different roles in the
actual
chip and board. Naturally some of the table field names had to be changed.
This should make things a bit more clearer as to who designs the chip and who
actually
manufactures the chip. As always, any feedback is much
appreciated.

17 Oct 2009 - I've decided to move the 3Dfx Voodoo 1
boards to 1995. The Voodoo architecture
was announced back in November 1995, but Voodoo graphics
was initially used in Arcade machines rather then the home consumer market.
Only because of a drop in DRAM prices did Voodoo Graphics become feasible for the
consumer market, and was properly announced by board partners in 1996.
This made placing the card under the announcement date a bit tricky. Because
most people go by the original announcement at COMDEX 1995, I've decided to
move them up a year.

13 Oct 2009 - Finally a
new update. Things have been very busy since May, got married in June
and have been working hard to keep my own business running well, hence very
little time for the site. Unfortunately the collection is in storage because our
house
is
so small and have got nowhere to keep the cards. So getting the cards out for
benchmarking, and taking pictures is a bit difficult, but not impossible.
The collecting of video cards is still going on, and have updated the site with a
few
new additions. Sadly I've had to remove two sections of the site, the Company
History
and Benchmarks. In the next couple of months it will be hard to find time
to write up on the cards, let alone the Companies. Same for benchmarking. So my
apologies to let anyone down on that one. If anyone would like to read the history
of 3dfx and 3Dlabs that were finished, please contact
me.
